ABOUT

My practice is centred around time, place and the environment, exploring our changing landscapes and noticing our loss of connection to the natural world. Through walking, observing and making, I seek to deepen my connection with the land while creating work that invites others to reconsider their own relationship with the natural environment.

I spend extended periods immersed in different landscapes, physically exploring, collecting natural materials, photographing, filming and making on site. This helps form an archive of place and time, documenting both the landscape itself and my experience of encountering it. I am particularly drawn to rock formations and the water that has shaped the land over billions of years. Alongside researching the geological histories of these environments, I engage directly with them through touch, collecting and mark-making, allowing the land itself to become a part of the work. I’ve recently created prints about the land from the land, using handmade clay inks and repurposed materials. Materiality and sustainability underpin my approach, and I continually seek environmentally conscious methods that allow the characteristics of each place to inform the finished work.

Printmaking, installation, photography and film are a big part of my practice. Alongside my research led works, I create original prints inspired by the natural world. Drawn to colourful skies, glowing sunsets, mountain forms and vibrant flowers, these works celebrate the energy and joy that can be found in nature if we remember to look. They invite moments of wonder and optimism and although visually more playful, they remain rooted in my same fascination with place, memory and our emotional connection to the natural world.

Living our fast paced lives, it’s easy to overlook our surroundings and become disconnected from the natural world. My practice offers me a way of slowing down, paying attention and reconnecting with the environment. Through my work, I hope to encourage moments of reflection and a renewed appreciation for the environments we inhabit every day.
